Website stolen on MyBlogLog
28.3.07

This Hecubus freakin' dude is starting to really piss on my battery. I have now emailed the MyBlogLog people twice and am awaiting a response. Let's hope this gets sorted out fast.
Any advice from anywhere would be welcome. Chillibean, got anything?
MyBlogLog site fraud?
27.3.07
Amazed, intrigued and a bit shocked I hopped on over to the profile for one Hecubus. This user has "laid claim" to about 200 websites. One of these sites is mine, however there are much, much more interesting sites that this user claims to own or run, including: Starbucks.com, Xbox.com, blog.myspace.com and xanga.com.
What is this about? I am somewhat confused and a little concerned. Is this some sort of website url fraud? Is this some sort of hacking or simply a "slight of hand" that I have missed?

Why can't del.icio.us and Flickr remember my login?
22.3.07

At the moment through Firefox I am running the nifty built in del.icio.us plugin that shows me all my saved sites through del.icio.us. The only problem is that to tag a site for del.icio.us or to view any of my bookmarks I need to login. To login I actually need to visit the del.icio.us site and physically type in my details and login. Do me a favour and remember my login.

Now I can feel you flickrholics itching to tell me that you have noticed that flickr now provides an option on login to sign in for up to 2 weeks and remain logged in. What a load of hogwash. That has yet to work for me. Does that mean that I need to keep my browser open for 2 weeks for this service to work? Someone please explain this to me.
These are two incredible services that have changed my online activity like no others, but please do me a favour and remember details. Seriously.

Jippii's rubbish service
18.3.07
I am unfortunately one of those unsuspecting clients, unbeknownst to me. This morning I received two SMS's from Jippii explaining that I can win a VW Polo. I then received another SMS from them regarding something else. I then made use of the unsubscribe option on the SMS to which I was told I would be paying R5 per SMS to use as far as I understood it (I stand to be corrected).
Immediately after requesting the service be halted, I was SMS'd by Jippii again to remind me that I could win a prize and ask me to join the service.
This is absolute rubbish and I feel intruded, exploited and used as a potential client. I am not and will not ever be a client to this company.
I DO NOT suggest using Jippii it seems as though they are 100% purely after your money and they are taking it R5 a time per SMS.
BMW drivers - the worst on the road
22.2.07

Hoping to have an enjoyable evening out with Jen tonight I drove to pick her up from her house. However no drive in Sandton is complete without some moronic BMW driver thinking he owns the road and drives a Ferrari.
Let me tell all of you BMW drivers something; you are not special. You drive one of millions upon millions (scott, maybe you can help out on numbers here) of BMW's out there, there are millions upon millions of other people that drive your exact model. Thus, therefore and hence, you are not special. Do not drive like you own the road, do not drive like your irritating blue lights are cool, they aren't, sorry Kevin.
The reason for this post: While driving to Jen's place I was aggressively pushed on to the right hand side of the road (that's the wrong side of the road if you are wondering) on a right-angle corner by a black BMW. If you are reading this, screw you. I proceeded to do what every man would: I hooted the crap out of my hooter. It gives me satisfaction to do this. I thought I had made my point. I hooted until I couldn't here myself think. We both took the corner following another car in front of us. The three of us are now so closely knit that I can see the ridiculous hairdo of the driver of the black BMW.
Then it happened, to add salt in to the wound of a correct and safe driver, the Black BMW man flicked his stompie (cigarette butt) on to my windscreen in triumph of his idiotic and dangerous driving. Do these people think they are clever by placing other peoples lives in danger? I couldn't give a rats ass if someone like this crashes in to a wall (not in to other people) and hurts themselves. They deserve it. There are enough things in this world that can end a life, why would you want to make your driving another murder weapon.
Take your flashy driving and BMW attitude and stick it wherever is most uncomfortable for you.
This post in no way intends to brand EVERY SINGLE BMW driver an idiot, but do me a favour and help yourselves out a bit, drive like you want to live.
I think I hit a nerve

So, little Nic the piepiejoller wet behind the ears wanker decides to get all self-righteous about my blog. Listen up, little pip squeak – you know diddly squat, OK? I’m not even going to dignify your hysterical little rant beyond these few words. You’re a deluded little puss and your thinking is aeons behind mine. Perhaps one day you will catch up, I just hope its not after some simian ape has stretched your sphincter, shot you in the head or raped your mother. As for the rest of your poorly written, grammatically incorrect little screed, I can only say "a hearty FUCK YOU" to you. You’re a snivelling little brat, be off already, little boy!Wow that's aggressive. Let's hope there is some semblance of an argument from the guru type guy in the near future that can help his cause because this little post has done nothing for him.
Read my response to this comment and the full post at These guys suck and so do their blogs.
PS: You spelled "aeons" and "snivelling" wrong. Good work on the spelling and grammar.

My wall is humming
4.11.06
You know the neighbours i mentioned almost exactly a week ago on my "8am on a Saturday"? Well they are at it again, this time it's somewhat of a more confusing tactic. My bedroom wall (that shared wall) it is humming, it has been humming for an entire day and night now. I'm not sure if anyone has ever tried falling asleep to a humming wall, but it's kinda like Chinese water torture (you know, with the dripping of the water on to the head). It's not fun, i promise. This is how the conversation in my head went with the wall/neighbours (I hope it was in my head or I'm going a bit mad):
Nic: Is this wall humming?
Wall: Yes, yes I am.
Nic: Why are you humming you stupid wall?
Wall: Because I enjoy seeing and hearing your reaction. And so do your neighbours.
Nic: OK. Thats cool, so be it, torture is torture.
And then sleep kind of entered the equation. Then the torture coupled with a crack of light from my curtains and I was up almost every half hour on the half hour from sunrise. Ah the joys of the weekend!

TechAttacks #1
2.11.06
To begin:
Technorati. What the hell is this little beaut of a site supposed to do. I thought that I knew, I thought I had it all under control, but I don't think that I do. I thought that it was supposed to help me see who is linking to my blog, to gather my favourite blogs and tell me who's saying what, when and how. I know that it does do all of this, but I just dont think that I am gaining the full usage of this web-tool.
So if there is anyone out there who know's better than me please help me out. This is my attempt at acknowledging that I am a helpless surfer who is living a farce.
More TechAttacks to come so keep an eye out and send me some advice.

London/S.A.
31.10.06
London, what a great place. I love it, i visit it often. I have friends and family and currently a girlfriend living there. So I do understand the drive to get to London to "make it", or "experience things". I get it, I do.
(Now before I carry on I want everyone to know that this is a general rant not targeted at anyone for anything about anything)
But I need to ask: Why stay in a place that destroys you? Why choose a place where there is a psuedo-South Africa waiting for you? When you get there, why stay? When you hate, why not leave? when you are sick by the thought of the rain and cold...find sunshine. Do not stay in London town near some South Africans who eat wors and use All Gold and Mrs Balls. If you want to do those things move back to S.A. and come and join us happy people here in the land of plenty!
Ok, got carried away on that last sentence there. But You all know what I mean. S.A. is great, so is London, but they are what they are for whom they are meant to be for.
The Mosquitos are here
29.10.06
Summer however, you do get to go out in shorts, swim and enjoy the sun and blue skies that South Africa allows.
The whole reason for me writing about Summer is actually this: I have recieved my first Mosquito bite for the season. I really, really hate those little bastards, I do. This dude bit my on my wrist, in the perfect spot to grate up against my watch everytime I move my wrist. Smart little mothers they are.
Enjoy the South Africa Sun this lazy Sunday afternoon.
8am on a Saturday
28.10.06
You see the joy of living in a town-house complex such as mine is that you share a wall with your neighbour. I am not talking about a perimeter wall, I'm talking about a shared living room, bedroom, bathroom wall. My moronic neighbour seems to dislike me because at 7:30am this morning he decided it was a good time to start drilling and grinding and hammering on this shared wall. I am sure that he loves the fact that his Saturday has started out being productive. But how about being silently productive? Pray, walk around the house, use the internet, phone, radio, cook, clean, wash, have sex, noisy sex if you like, JUST DON'T FUCKING DRILL AND GRIND AT 8AM IN THE MORNING!

Virgin Screw-Up
13.10.06
Flight VS 601 from London Heathrow to Johannesburg did not crash today. But it may just as well have.
This was not my first flight as the headline may suggest. I am not a Virgin flyer, but wow it felt like my first time: Clumsy, delayed, quick to bite me in the ass and a little bit painful to say the least!!!
My flight back to South Africa today was possibly the worst flying experience of my entire life. I think i will go so far as to say that not even Olympic Airways was this bad.
To List a few issues nice and quickly so that no one is bored by yet another painful airline rant.
- The Plane was delayed by an hour due to a staff member being late.
- The meal (dinner) was served at close to 23:30. not all at once, but the left side of the plane followed by the right and occasionally some passengers in between (i love watching other people eat).
- The in-flight entertainment system worked for me, but not for others. They then shut it down for about 2 hours. Mine then didnt work and everyone elses did. Nice.
- I asked the flight attendants three times for a pen, i didnt get one.
- The flight was BOILING, the first flight of my life i planned for aircon (thick jacket etc) and there was none.
- they overbooked the flight. EVERY SEAT WAS TAKEN!!!

Well I am unbelievably excited to report that todays exchange rate is the highest it has been for the pound in over three years.

Fuckin exchange rates and fucking Zuma and fuckin Shabir Shaik-my-ass, and fucking anything else that has fucked the economy the day before i am meant to travel.

Delayed Babies
24.9.06

I was scheduled to leave the Port Elizabeth airport at about 17:10...We left at about18:30. Awesome. Its amazing, the plane actually got off the ground, thats not the amazing part. The amazing part is that every infant in the ENTIRE fucking country was on the same plane as mine. Not only did they delay our plane (I am guessing the babies had prior arrangements to uphold) but they sat next to me, on top of me, behind and in front of me.
I thought that planes of that size mostly carried like a couple hundred people, max. I WAS WRONG, there were about 2 gazillion babies on this plane and they all sat by me. No i digress, they did not sit, the cooed, and coochied and wailed and cried and yelled and messed and Holy Mother of anything good and gracious on this Earth. I wanted to actually kick the window in (I managed a window seat) and jump right out of that plane. But then i thought that i would be destroying the potentially fantastical lives that these infants might one day have. If they stopped yelling.
Speaking of the window seat; the joy of the window seat is that you get to lean your head on the window, or thereabouts and have a lekker little kip in the corner...Not so much. No sleep, baby, no cleanliness, baby, no nothing, baby. I am also one of those people who likes to exit the airplane while it is still moving. I do not like to hang around on planes for longer than need be, but i was trapped like a drowning rat smelling the end,..and it was baby poop.
But hey, I got off the plane, i got outside and i got home. Happy and snug in Jozi again.

Choir of confusion
12.9.06
One of my best friends, Erin, sings in the UCT Choir. They are up in JHB for the week doing a little tour or something. I went to watch them perfom last night at a church near the Zoo Lake.
Wow, what an experience. I mean the choir is great, they girls are hot, they can all sing, etc etc etc bullshit. Wonderful. But here we sat, watching a half Jewish girl (Erin), her dad who is jewish and many other religions, races and creeds singing songs about Jesus, about the new and old testament, Im an atheist and I was listening to it. Dont get me wrong, i can appreciate the validity of the half sacred half secular vibe that they choir attempts. But seriously, why is it that choirs must sing in churches, and must sing sacred songs written in the early hundreds by some dude that we have never heard of???
The second part of the show was a much better, upbeat, secular, African jives etc. Lots of fun, and it was fun cause the choir wasnt trying to hang themselves by the cross hanging over their heads. Seriously, they became enjoyable because they were singing in english (And Zulu amongst other African Langauges) and not in Latin, who sings in latin anymore?
I know it sounds great and is moving to the elderly folk in the audience but times they are a changin believe it or not. So lets get it on (the al green version not the Celebrity Death Match version), lets make love tonight, lets get fucked up and lets sing the praises of the lives we lead, not the lives that some latin guy lead a gagillion years ago.

Service in South Africa Sucks...
8.9.06
I LOVE HELLOPETER!!
I made this complaint on hellopeter.com today:
Attempting to get my Cellphone repaired at Vodacom Sandton I was repeatedly told there were no loan phones available. I was told that I would simply not recieve calls while my phone was being repaired. I recieved bad service (a lady sending SMS's while helping me). I eventually pushed the issue. The manager was called and proceeded to give me the last "loan phone" out of his pocket. He was using the Vodacom Loan phone that i was initialled denied for his personal cellphone usage that day.
I have such a huge, massive, um big problem with service in South Africa. Companies seem to think that as consumers we owe them something for their existence. When in fact, it is the large corporate who actually needs to get on their knees for the consumer. I KEEP YOUR FREAKING BUSINESS IN BUSINESS YOU ASS!!
But alas, this is not the case. When i made my complaint with the Manager at Vodacom in Sandton a few days ago, he cocked his head, smiled and told me that as soon as I left he would reprimand the lady who did not take proper care of me and my issue. HA!!! As if. he then took the loan phone that i was assured did not exist, out of his pocket and placed it on table in front of me. No skaam whatsoever.
The only person who suffered in this situation was me. And the only thing that got them to jump was when i walked over to Cell C and subsequently returned to Vodacom threatening to transfer my contract there and then (this didnt work as well as planned as the law only kicks in on the 18th of September). But my point was made.
